Mohamed Affandy Bin Zainal Ariffin from Teluk Intan bought a new Proton Saga Premium in July and his purchase brought him double happiness when he was chosen as the lucky grand prize winner for the Proton Q3 Test Drive & Win contest, earning him the keys to a Proton Saga Standard. The married father of one, who bought his car from Han 333 Otomobil Sdn Bhd in Perak was amongst 12,992 entries who participated in the contest, which gave customers who booked and registered their cars during the contest period a chance to win the grand prize. Affandy received his prize on 5 November from Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar, during an event at PROTON’s Centre of Excellence headquarters streamed live on the company’s social media channels.
PROTON CKD PLANT IN EGYPT INAUGURATED BY PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA
Export operations for Malaysian carmaker PROTON have taken the next step towards expanding internationally following an inauguration ceremony for the new CKD plant to assemble the Proton Saga in Cairo, Egypt, by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. Joining him at the event were H.E. Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister of Egypt, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. PROTON SALES GROW BY 13.6% IN OCTOBER INLINE WITH TIV RECOVERY
National carmaker PROTON has recorded sales of 12,799 units (domestic + export) in October, an increase of 13.6% over the previous month, boosting its year to date (YTD) total sales volume to 125,557 units as the company strives to achieve a sixth consecutive year of sales growth. As a result of the performance, Proton remains as the second most popular brand in the national automotive sales rankings with a forecast market share of 18.1% for the month and a YTD figure of 18.9% for the whole of 2024.
TEAM PROTON R3 REVEALS DRIVERS FOR 2024 SEPANG 1000KM ENDURANCE RACE
Team Proton R3, a division of national automotive brand PROTON, has revealed the four drivers who will be piloting the Proton S70 R3 to be campaigned by the team at the 2024 Sepang 1000km Endurance Race. Syafiq Ali and Fahrizal Hasan were named as the drivers of car 81 while the young driver pairing of Alister Yoong and Ariff Azmi were presented as the pilots of car 82 during a media event at PROTON’s Centre of Excellence headquarters.

PROTON SALES EXCEED THE 100,000-MARK FOR SIX CONSECUTIVE YEARS

PROTON e.MAS 7 TO MAKE PUBLIC DEBUT AT NATIONAL DAY PARADE
Malaysia’s 67th National Day will be celebrated on 31st August this year and to add extra significance to the occasion, the PROTON e.MAS 7 will be making its first public appearance. The national automotive brand’s first EV model was previewed to the media on 2 August, to kick-off a journey that will culminate in its market launch at the end of the year and now, it will appear with a special camouflage motif representing the colours of the Jalur Gemilang, as part of a 25-car contingent featuring various Proton models.
PROTON DISTRIBUTOR AIMS TO INCREASE X SERIES SALES IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
National carmaker PROTON has expanded its geographical reach in the Caribbean by partnering with ANSA Motors Limited in Trinidad and Tobago, a company with a century’s worth of experience in the automotive industry, since March this year. The successful tie-up has yielded promising results with buyer response to its car models exceeding initial expectations. Year-to-date, PROTON has shipped 261 units to the country in 2024, achieving 101% of its target volume and bringing the total number of Proton vehicles shipped there to 366 units since CY2023.
PROTON TARGETS PREMIUM SUV MARKET WITH NEW 2025 PROTON X70
68 months after its public debut on 12 December 2018, Proton’s first SUV has received a major update to drive it to the head of the premium C-segment SUV class. Launched today at the Marriott Hotel, the 2025 PROTON X70 is a comprehensive update of its predecessor featuring revised exterior styling, new interior equipment and upgraded ADAS level 2 safety technology and, for the first time on a Proton model, it will be equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
ICONIC PROTON SAGA CELEBRATES RECORD SALES IN A DECADE
Entering its 39th year of continuous production, the first-ever Malaysian car produced by national carmaker PROTON, the Proton Saga, raked in a remarkable 7,855 units in sales last month, marking the best single-month achievement for the model since October 2013. Cumulatively, year-to-date (YTD) sales for the model have grown 8.8% year-on-year to 42,693 units, setting the stage for a stellar sales year ahead.
PROTON OPENS NEW REGIONAL PARTS CENTRE IN SABAH TO MEET MARKET DEMAND
National carmaker PROTON is thrilled to announce the expansion and official launch of its regional parts centre (RPC) at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, following the launch of a similar facility in Sarawak last year. This latest addition to the company’s spare parts storage and distribution operations is capable of reducing lead for spare parts time by 30% on the back of increased output capacity from PROTON Parts Centre Sdn Bhd (PPCSB) in West Malaysia as well as parts procured via direct shipment from overseas, meeting the growing demand in PROTON’s third highest state for vehicle sales in Malaysia.
2024 PROTON X50 SHINES IN JULY TO REGAIN MARKET LEADERSHIP
It has been a little more than two months since national automotive brand Proton launched the updated 2024 PROTON X50 and despite some initial scepticism from certain quarters, the model has proven its worth once again. The company recently announced that in July, during its first full month of sales, the B-segment premium SUV achieved a remarkable sales figure of 2,585 units. This was its best performance in 2024, vaulting the model back to the head of its class and solidifying its status as Malaysia’s favourite compact SUV.
PROTON SALES REBOUND IN JULY TO HIGHEST LEVEL SINCE SEPTEMBER 2022
National carmaker PROTON sold 15,103 units in July (domestic and export) to post a strong start to the second half of the year and cement its hold on second place in the automotive sales table. Sales volume rebounded by 37.3% over the previous month, when a planned plant shutdown for scheduled operations improvement activities affected production numbers, resulting in the highest closing figure since September 2022.
PROTON BREAKS GROUND FOR NEW STAMPING LINE
National carmaker PROTON recently performed a groundbreaking ceremony for new additions to its stamping facilities in Tanjong Malim. The new lines will be known as stamping E and FLine and will expand the volume of parts stamping at PROTON Tanjong Malim as the company prepares to relocate production of the Proton Saga from Shah Alam by 2026.

PROTON SELLS 10,999 UNITS AMIDST SOFTER TIV IN JUNE
National carmaker PROTON sold 10,999 units in June (domestic and export) to strengthen its hold of second place in the automotive sales table. Sales volume was affected by a planned oneweek plant shutdown for scheduled operations improvement activities but overall, the company achieved a market share figure of 19.1% for the month, the same as its year-to-date (YTD) market share figure. Total sales for the first half of 2024 closed at 73,696 units.

PROTON UNVEILS e.MAS AS ITS NEW ELECTRIC VEHICLE BRAND
National carmaker PROTON today took the next step in its evolution as a vehicle manufacturer with the official unveiling of its new EV brand. To be deployed on future EV (electric vehicle) models, the new brand will be known as e.MAS and is pronounced as the alphabet e combined with the word “mas”. The acronym stands for Electrifying Malaysia, marrying the ‘e’ symbol to denote EVs together with the MAS abbreviation that is universally used for the country. The name also represents PROTON’s aim of electrifying mobility for Malaysians with its new upcoming EV models.

National carmaker PROTON has announced the commencement of a 5-Star Rating initiative to further raise the level of after sales service for customers at its outlets nationwide. PROTON’s NEW S70 R3 RACING CAR TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT MALAYSIA AUTOSHOW 2024
National carmaker PROTON will unveil the PROTON S70 R3 racing car developed by its motorsport arm, R3 Motorsports at the 2024 Malaysia Autoshow, held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Selangor (MAEPS). The Proton S70 R3 marks Proton R3's first all-new racing car since the Proton Saga R3 in 2019, heralding the brand's return to the S1K race since that year. With five wins under its belt, more than any other team, Proton R3 achieved a remarkable feat by securing victory for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019.
PROTON HINTS AT FUTURE DIRECTION AT BEIJING AUTO SHOW 2024
PROTON’s technology partner and stakeholder, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely), showcased a vast array of innovative technologies at the recent 2024 Beijing Automobile Show. Among these were the high-tech flagship SUV concept, Galaxy Starship, demonstrating Geely's commitment to advancing automotive technology. PROTON WINS TWO AWARDS FOR ITS NEWEST MODELS
National carmaker PROTON picked up two awards for its newest models at the Allianz DSF.my Vehicle Of The Year (VOTY) 2024 awards ceremony yesterday. The company’s market-leading C-segment sedan, the Proton S70 Flagship X received its first accolade when it won the Sedan of The Year category, despite having been on sale for less than six months. Meanwhile the smart #1 BRABUS, launched in November 2023 and distributed by PROTON subsidiary PRO-NET, beat out stiff competition to win the Electric Crossover of The Year award.
PROTON APRIL SALES UP 17.1% AS PROTON S70 BUILDS MOMENTUM
National carmaker PROTON posted a 17.1% growth rate over the same month in 2023 with 11,025 units (domestic and export) sold compared to 9,415 units in April last year. As a result, sales for the first four months of 2024 also closed stronger with 50,175 units, higher than the 49,702 units sold from January to April 2023. Total industry volume (TIV) for the Malaysian automotive market meanwhile also grew for the same period to an estimated 59,100 units and a cumulative total of 261,345 units for the year.
PROTON OPENS R&D FACILITY AT HANGZHOU BAY, CHINA
National carmaker PROTON opened its research and development (R&D) centre in China last Saturday to strengthen its collaborative efforts with its existing partner Zhejiang Geely Holding Ltd (Geely) in a move to complement its existing facilities in Malaysia. Located within the Geely Automobile Research Institute (GRI) at Hangzhou Bay, the opening of PROTON R&D Centre (China) also coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.
PROTON MAINTAINS SALES RANKING AS VEHICLE SALES GROW IN MALAYSIA
National carmaker PROTON closed March and the first quarter of 2024 in a positive fashion with strong sales for its domestic and export markets. With 12,666 sales (domestic and export) reported, total sales for the quarter totalled 39,150 units with export sales currently 63% higher than last year.

PROTON’S SOLAR PLANT CLINCHES RENEWABLE ENERGY AWARD IN NEA 2023
PROTON’s Tanjong Malim solar power initiative that is comprised of the largest parking lot bi-facial solar panel facility in Malaysia has clinched the top spot of The Renewable Energy category under the on grid (National Grid) segment in the National Energy Awards (NEA) 2023. PROTON X90 MAKES DEBUT IN BANGLADESH
The flagship of the Proton range, the Proton X90, was launched in Bangladesh on 29 February. Held in the capital city of Dhaka, the event was officiated over by H.E. Haznah Md. PROTON CONTINUES POSITIVE GROWTH TRAJECTORY IN 2024
National carmaker PROTON continued its positive growth trajectory to start the year by reporting 13,602 sales (domestic and export) in February. By doing so, total sales for the first two months grew to 26,484 units, an increase of 3% over the same time period from 2023. The achievement is particularly noteworthy as automotive sales are traditionally slower at the beginning of the year after the year-end sales push in December.

PROTON SALES CONTINUE TO SURGE UPWARDS IN 2024
National carmaker PROTON enjoyed its best start to a year since 2013 by selling 12,882 units (domestic and export) in January. This enabled Proton to be the only automotive brand to record better sales performance compared to December 2023, an increase of 1.3%, while compared to January last year sales have increased by 10.3%. As a result of the strong start to the year, PROTON comfortably retained second place in the sales table.
